Quick update - i took the test on friday an I'm afraid I failed. It was an intresting experience, as my friend translated from a script of questions and wasnt allowed to see the screen.
It was good that I was allowed time for the question to be translated and clarification on the question.
It was a shame I failed, but it was good experience for my next Theory early Novemeber. I am not excusing myself for language barrier, and will study the basic rules of the road using the car/auto book which is in english, then do the 'all 10/1000 questions' loads of times to almost brainwash myself with the answers smile

Bollocks !
2nd time and still failed. Its just annoying as it costs a fortune.
I contcated my school who were helpful with advice, and suggested I keep studying my english book for Auto. So I will do that, what I would really like is the 1000 questions on CD so I can practice and see my mistakes, as its costing me a bomb in time and money.
Ah well, THIRD TIME LUCKY !xd

I'm from England and live in Zoetermeer now.
I have to say my riding school is very good to teach me, having got me thru the AVB exam 1st time.
Some fellow bike riders are helping me in the office also, to try and find auto book in english so I can practice.
I was hoping to get my licence before 2009 but seems far too optimistic now.
I try the URL and it doesnt work. But I will try ANWB and book shop for training CD's.pirate

On 15th December I passed my theory exam with 3 faults.
Fault on pedestrian crossing with crutches (should allow)
Breaking distance (brane froze, couldnt workout km/10*3)
And another, not sure as I was going to mad by then as I had passed.

It was a really huge effort to pass this exam and satisfying as well. I had help every week from my (dutch) friend Martijn praticing the exams and translating them, so I could see my weak points, then revise up.
If your English and are mad enough to purse getting a dutch bike licence, heres my tips
1) Get the English Auto books, the rules and regulations and the 600 exam questions on 'using your judgement', the answers are pretty much the same for a motorbike as a car.
2) Get the 1000 vragen for motor and get it scanned in a multicopy to PDF. Then use PDF to Word translator, then use babelfish or systrans to translate the words you dont understand, its not perfect translation, but its enough to give an idea. Whats important is to be clear that on "do you have to give way" or "does the have to give way" questions, as due to dutch grammar they mess up easy, once you done 10 or so, its easy to work out smile (especially when comparing the same pictures from the 600 book to the 1000 book)
3) Get a friend to help out (even if they are not a motorrider, but obviously it helps), practice with your translator if you can so you are BOTH ready for the day
4) Revise like mad ! If your English and took your theory test there (like me, where I got 49/50 and 100% on the hazard perception) you'll find this exam VERY exact. They want you to know the law word for word IMHO and to apply in the right way.

Many thanks to all on bikenet.nl and I hope this helps other expats who maybe thinking of taking the bike test in NL.
Only the ROAD test to do now !! :p

As per other thread, i have my practical test booked at long last. My instructor and I both know it is going to be hard work, but I actually feel more optimistic and focused knowing i have a date to work for, especially in my work climate it makes me relaxed to have a date, its just going to get more busy at work, leaving less time for lessons and exams, so am making the best of now !
